In light of this, it’s promising to see Congress expanding Pell Grant eligibility to encompass skills-based credentialing programs. These programs include certifications for roles such as patient care technicians, EKG technicians, and phlebotomy technicians, among others.

However, this new initiative broadens access, allowing individuals with a high school diploma or GED to enroll in high-quality, short-term training programs. These grants empower people from diverse backgrounds to acquire essential skills for careers in high-demand fields, all without the burden of student debt.
