During his visit to South Korea, President Trump was honored with a golden crown and a distinguished medal, symbolizing a gesture of respect and admiration. This event took place on Wednesday as part of his tour across Asia.
South Korean President Lee Jae Myung awarded Trump the Grand Order of Mugunghwa, the nation’s most esteemed accolade, along with a replica of an ancient gold crown. This recognition was in appreciation of Trump’s efforts to foster peace between the Koreas.
Expressing his gratitude, Trump remarked that receiving the medal was a “tremendous honor” and humorously added that he would like to wear it immediately.
While attending the Asian-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) forum in Gyeongju, Trump announced that the U.S. and South Korea had nearly finalized a trade agreement. “We’ve reached an understanding on various issues,” he shared with reporters, highlighting the productive discussions.
Coinciding with Trump’s visit, North Korea conducted a series of cruise missile tests. When questioned about this, Trump downplayed the significance, noting that missile launches have been a long-standing occurrence.
Throughout his Asian tour, Trump has suggested the possibility of meeting North Korean leader Kim Jong Un. However, the likelihood of such a summit remains uncertain. Trump mentioned that he and Kim have a mutual understanding, reflecting on their last meeting in 2019 during denuclearization discussions.
