ABS Unveils Cutting-Edge Technology Hub in Saudi Arabia

(DAMMAM) ABS has inaugurated a state-of-the-art Technology Center in Saudi Arabia, focusing on pioneering advancements in smart systems, robotics, artificial intelligence, and digital innovations.

Supporting Saudi Arabia’s Maritime Ambitions

Introduced at the Saudi Maritime Logistics Congress, this groundbreaking research facility aligns with the Kingdom’s strategic vision to lead globally in the shipping industry.

Driving Innovation and Talent Development

Patrick Ryan, ABS Senior Vice President and Chief Technology Officer, remarked, “The pace of technological advancement in our sector is remarkable. This center will position Saudi Arabia at the forefront of maritime research and skill development. By leveraging ABS’ cutting-edge technology and the region’s dynamic tech landscape, this center will be pivotal in fostering collaboration and shaping the future of the Kingdom’s maritime industry.”

Aligning with Saudi Vision 2030

In line with Saudi Vision 2030, the center will be a focal point for developing smart systems, robotics, and AI-driven solutions to tackle operational and regulatory challenges. It aims to forge industry partnerships, working alongside vessel operators, shipyards, manufacturers, and regulators to co-create innovative solutions. Additionally, the center will collaborate with top Saudi universities to train the next generation of maritime experts.

Role of the Transport General Authority

The Transport General Authority (TGA) has been instrumental in the center’s development. As the maritime flag state of Saudi Arabia, TGA oversees the accreditation of training institutes, regulatory compliance, and workforce development, ensuring alignment with International Maritime Organization (IMO) standards and the STCW Convention. This ensures the Kingdom’s maritime sector achieves excellence in safety, compliance, and talent readiness.
